Field Trip Overview

• Date: Tuesday, January 13, 2026

• Time: During the school day (departure around 9:30 AM)

• Destination: La Plata Fairgrounds

• Grade Level: 8th Grade

• Number of Students Attending: Approximately 93 students

Purpose of the Trip
This field trip supports our career exploration curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of career pathways and engage in conversations with local businesses and community professionals. The goal is to help students begin thinking about future career options and make meaningful real-world connections.

Cost & Meals

• Cost to Families: None

• Money Required: No

• Lunch: Students will receive their regular school lunch; sack lunches are not needed.

What Students Need to Bring

• Students do not need to bring anything special for this trip.

Supervision
Students will be supervised by Bayfield Middle School staff throughout the trip, including:
Mark Poettgen, Shawn Poettgen, Vicki Trousdale, Allyson Cox, Poul Heminger, and Nicole Machallister.

Permission Slips

• Permission slips will be sent home on January 6, 2026

• Deadline to return permission slips: Monday, January 12, 2026

• Permission slips should be returned to students’ advisory teachers.
